THE RELATIONSHIP
Authorised distributor
We are an authorised distributor of Kingspan Light + Air. Everything on this site is genuine Kingspan product, supplied under Kingspan article numbers, with the manufacturer's documentation and the manufacturer's warranty behind it.
That matters more than it sounds. A rooflight is a hole in a building's weather envelope with a warranty attached, and both the certification and the warranty depend on the product being what it says it is. Buying from an authorised route means the article number on your invoice matches the article number on the datasheet, and a claim goes to the manufacturer rather than into an argument about provenance.
What we add is the ordering: current pricing, stock, sizes you can check without ringing anyone, and technical documentation on the product page rather than in an email thread.
THE RANGE
Five rooflight lines
They differ by frame, by glazing build-up and by what they are certified to do. Most projects come down to two of them, and the difference is usually thermal performance or whether the unit has to ventilate.
LK classic
DOME ROOFLIGHT
The standard flat-roof dome. The widest choice of nominal sizes and the line most refurbishment work ends up specifying.
- Clear or Opal glazing
- Fixed or ventilating
- Full upstand range
Use it when a straightforward replacement or a new opening with no unusual thermal requirement.

DOME ROOFLIGHT
The performance version of the same idea, with a glazing build-up that improves the thermal figures over the classic frame.
- Multi-shell and PC-st glazing options
- Ventilating variants across the size range
- Where the thermal calculation is tight
Use it when the building's energy performance is being assessed and the classic does not get you there.

DOME ROOFLIGHT
A neo plus frame carrying a different glazing combination again. The highest-specification dome in the range.
- Specified where performance figures are the deciding factor
- [TBC-A35]
Use it when the specification names it, or nothing else meets the figures.

FLAT ROOFLIGHT
Flat rather than domed, for roofs where the profile of a dome is not wanted or not permitted.
- Flat sightline
- Different drainage detail to a dome
- Check the roof falls before specifying
Use it when the architecture calls for a flush finish rather than a dome.

FLAT ROOFLIGHT
The performance version of the flat unit, on the same basis as neo plus sits above classic.
- Flat sightline with improved thermal figures
- Where both the look and the calculation matter
Use it when you need the flush finish and the performance.

Everything a rooflight needs around it
A dome on its own is not an installation. Four other groups make up most of what we ship.
AK PVC · AK ST · AK ST-TG
15 – 50 CM
The kerb the unit sits on. Insulated PVC, steel, and thermally broken steel, in the heights each type is made in.
- Ordered as a separate line with its own article number
- Heights differ by type
- PVC 15/30/50 · steel 30/40/50 · thermal break 50
Use it when always — every rooflight needs one.
Choosing an upstandWeathering and protection
SR · RSM LK · NSHEV
Two different things that are frequently confused. SR is a weathering frame. Fall-through protection is a separate range — RSM LK, HDS LK, EAD LK and others, depending on the application.
- SR is about keeping water out
- RSM LK, HDS LK and EAD LK are about people
- Specify them separately and deliberately
Use it when the specification calls for either — and check which one it means.
Actuators and openers
ELECTRIC · MANUAL
Opening gear for ventilating units, and the controls that drive it.
- Matched to the unit and the size
- Opener side is determined by the size
- [TBC-A36]
Use it when the unit ventilates, or is part of a smoke ventilation scheme.
Fixings, flashings and spares
STOCKED
The parts that make the difference between a delivery and a finished job.
- Generally stocked rather than made to order
- Ordered alongside the main items
Use it when you are pricing a complete installation rather than a unit.
SIZING
How the range is sized
Everything is ordered by nominal size — the size of the opening the unit suits, written short side first, in centimetres. A 100/150 suits an opening one metre by one and a half. It is not the outside dimension of the dome.
[TBC-A37] standard nominal sizes are listed. Openings outside those are supplied made-to-size and are quoted rather than ordered online, which is routine rather than exceptional.
If you are working from an opening rather than from a catalogue number, the Measuring Guide gets you to the right size in about five minutes.
READING THE DATA
The vocabulary
Kingspan documentation uses precise terms, and the precision carries meaning. These are the ones that come up.
| Term | What it means |
|---|---|
| Ut | Thermal transmittance of the transparent element |
| URC | Thermal transmittance of the whole rooflight construction, including the upstand |
| LT | Light transmission — how much visible light gets through |
| g | Total energy transmission, including heat |
| Rw,p | Weighted sound reduction index for the product |
| Clear / Opal | The two glazing finishes. Clear is see-through; Opal diffuses |
| SR | Weathering frame. Not fall-through protection |
| RSM LK · HDS LK · EAD LK | Fall-through protection products for skylight domes |
| NSHEV | Natural smoke and heat exhaust ventilation — NRWG in German documentation |
Where a figure on this site differs from the manufacturer's current documentation, the manufacturer's documentation governs.
Not sure which line you need?
Send the opening size and what the specification asks for. We will tell you which lines meet it and what the difference costs.
